Branding isn’t just about colours, fonts, and logos - it’s about clarity, alignment, and intention. Recently, I completed a 5-day Effective Coaching course with Inspired Mindset (Nqual approved), and it’s transformed how I approach branding and logo design.
Coaching and branding may seem worlds apart, but the skills overlap beautifully. Here’s what I’ve learned and how it benefits my clients.
Coaching Meets Branding
Brand strategy is about uncovering the essence of a business such as its purpose, values, and vision. Coaching does the same for people. Both disciplines aim to create clarity and direction. By integrating coaching techniques into branding, I can help clients dig deeper into what they truly want their brand to represent and how it will serve their business goals.
The Power of Open Questions in Branding
One of the biggest takeaways from my training is the art of asking open questions. Instead of telling clients what they need, I now guide them through reflective conversations:
• What do you want your brand to say about you?
• How will this rebrand help you achieve your business goals?
Open questions spark thinking, not just talking. They uncover motivations, beliefs, and aspirations that are critical elements for creating a brand that feels authentic and intentional.
Using the GROW Model for Brand Strategy
The GROW model (Goal, Reality, Options, Will) is a coaching framework that works brilliantly in branding:
• Goal: What do you want your brand to achieve?
• Reality: Where is your brand now?
• Options: What creative directions could we explore?
• Will: What steps will bring your vision to life?
This approach makes branding more organic and strategic, ensuring every design decision aligns with your long-term objectives.
Listening, Reflecting, and Emotional Intelligence
Coaching taught me the importance of empathic listening, not just hearing words but understanding energy, tone, and underlying beliefs. In branding, this means tuning into how clients show up in their business and what their brand needs to communicate. It’s about creating something transformational, not transactional.
Beliefs, Mindset, and Branding
We explored the BEAR model (Beliefs, Emotions, Actions, Results) and how limiting beliefs (like imposter syndrome) can impact branding decisions. If you believe “I’m not good enough,” your brand might play small. Shifting those beliefs creates space for bold, confident branding that reflects your true potential. (The phrase “Sh*t in, sh*t out” made us all laugh, but it’s so true!)
Why This Matters for My Clients
This coaching journey has deepened my self-awareness and developed how I work. I’ll guide, listen, and help you discover clarity so your brand aligns with your vision. Together, we’ll create branding that feels intentional, authentic, and powerful.
